Contemporary Istanbul is the leading international art fair in Turkey that brings both local and international focus to the dynamic art scene in Turkey's vibrant metropolis every November. One of the highlights of the 2013 edition of CI is Hermann Nitsch’s 66th Painting Performance, "Malakt", taking place during the fair. Hermann Nitsch is one of the founders of Vienna Actionism.
The new addition to the fair, Plug-In, is dedicated to video art and new media.
The New Horizons section that had previously featured contemporary art from Syria, Iran, the Gulf and Central and Eastern Europe, this year focuses on Russia.
Moreover, the citywide weeklong initiative celebrating contemporary culture
and art - Art Istanbul - runs alongside the 8th edition of the fair from 4 – 10 November at art institutions, museums, foundations and art galleries.
